The HP ProBook 6540b has a 2.5" SATA HDD, the HDD connector is soldered directly to the motherboard. So you don't have a DD00T1HD116 cable. If you have the same error like in my video, then pr your HDD has bad sectors in the booting area or your operating system booting files are damaged. You need to scan your HDD for bad sectors, HDD integrity or try to reinstall the operating system. If you have a normal mechanical HDD, I suggest to upgrade to an SSD. 1.Test your HDD for errors, 2.check for free space on partition C 3.reinstall the Operating system

Your PC is crashing when you enter in the BIOS settings/before you enter in the BIOS settings or the Windows don't load. 1.If your PC is crashing when you enter in the BIOS settings, than you need to reset your BIOS to the default settings and restart your PC. If still crashing you can try to download the BIOS iso image and re update from bootable CD/DVD/USB. You can try If still crashing in the BIOS settings or before you enter in your BIOS settings you might have a hardware failure probable a bulged capacitor in the power supply or on your motherboard. 2.If the Windows is crashing you need to enter in the BIOS and switch the SATA mode from AHCI to IDE or from IDE to SATA ruclips.net/video/gGHD7gafnawa/видео.htmlnd restart the PC. Hello, I didn't find for your motherboard the SATA drivers, but I find for the Asrock Z77 Extreme motherboard www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%20Extreme3/#Download which basically has the same chipset download.asrock.com/Drivers/Intel/SATA/Floppy_Win7-64_Win7_Vista64_Vista_XP64_XP(v11.2.0.1006).zip I hope this will help you, but for your motherboard probably the Windows 7 is more suitable. @@redigitt thanks for looking into that for me! I do have the disc included with the motherboard, do you think the SATA drivers are included in the disc?

Yes, you need to search for something like SATA Floppy Image or Floppy driver and usualy is a .zip file and for sure contain a Txtsetup.oem and the F6 Readme file where explains how to use the file, you need to press the F6 key to load the drivers from the Floppy disc....but if you integrate with Nlite the SATA driver, then you don;t have to press the F6 key.

Because this PC is an old PC, this came out before Windows 10, has an older BIOS, so you have to wait a longer time. Aloha, in this video the HDD is a 1.8" HDD and it has a "ribbon" cable and the end of the cable was damaged, it didn't make full contact and that's why I got that error message. I also encountered a loose SATA data cable and a loose SATA power cable and the operating system did not load or after a while I got a blue screen. Not all old computers can boot from a USB flash drive. I had better experience when I disconnected all optical drives and HDD's and left only one HDD, I used USB 2.0 flash drive, preferably smaller capacity than 4 GB and sometimes you have to wait 10-30 minutes to start to boot from the USB and maybe you have to try several times to boot from USB flash drive. That's why I prefer to install Windows XP from CD, from DVD it installs faster because the reading speed is higher. .

Probably you have USB keyboard an mouse and you disabled the USB ports, try with a PS2 keyboard.

Probably the USB driver is damaged, with a PS2 mouse and keyboard try to update/search for the missing driver, restore to an earlier point or reinstall the OS.

If you have HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT, this method is works, I don't know other methods.
